This photo is one of the earliest in my portfolio, dating back to April 2016. Nine years is a long time of learning and growth, and the substantial equipment improvements I’ve made over that time have also made a huge impact on my results.
Yet this image of a lone fisherman on Barr Lake near Denver, Colorado, still draws me after nearly a decade. I find the balance and simplicity appealing, and the good memories don’t hurt either: though it predates the publication of this website by a couple months, this trip is mentioned in Returning to the Wild, the very first introductory post I wrote in June of that same year. After re-reading it this morning, I find that it’s still true. I’m free of the tech company now, but the wild is still calling.
And now? I’m ready.
