Spring has gotten a slow start this year. I had to scrape ice off my car windows yesterday, and this morning was below freezing, too. I felt like I could relate to today’s image entirely too well to miss the opportunity.
This picture is from Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, the morning after a snowstorm blew through in early January this year. While the cardinals and juncos were having a field day on the ground with the snow, this miserable-looking fox squirrel huddled above on a branch, daydreaming fervently about acorns ripening under a warm sun or whatever else squirrels dream about.
I’ll leave the acorns for my squirrely friends, but the sun sure sounds nice.
